License
One project works without a license; a license unlocks unlimited projects and remote access. Here's how to request one and enter it in the app.
You can use the Build Station fully without a license, for one project. For more projects and remote access in the browser, you need a license key.
What the license unlocks
| Without license | With license | |
|---|---|---|
| Projects | 1 | unlimited |
| Builds, queue, store upload | yes | yes |
| Remote access in the browser | – | yes |
Without a license, you can build your project as often as you like, with all presets, uploads, repairs and Codemagic. Only the ways to a second project are locked: + Projekt (+ Project), importing from JSON and Duplizieren (Duplicate) in the context menu. In their place, the sidebar shows Lizenz für weitere Projekte (license for more projects). On top of that there’s remote access, which requires a valid license.
Who gets a license
- Private: free for your private projects.
- inwendo customers: free for everyone whose apps inwendo develops or maintains.
- Companies and agencies: for commercial use, on request.
Requesting a license
You request the license on the Request a license page. Tell us what you use the Build Station for and roughly how many projects you have. We review the request and send you the license key by email.
In the app, Einstellungen › Lizenz › Lizenz anfragen (Settings › License › request license) takes you to the same page.
Entering the license
- Open Einstellungen (Settings) in the sidebar and scroll to the Lizenz (License) section.
- Paste the key from the email into the Lizenzschlüssel (license key) field.
- Click Aktivieren (activate).
The Station checks the key right away with inwendo’s license server. If it’s valid, it says Lizenziert (licensed), possibly with your name, “unbegrenzt viele Projekte” (unlimited projects) or the allowed number, and the expiry date. Below that you see how many projects have been created and when the last check was.
The key is then stored in the macOS keychain, not in a configuration file. Only the result of the last check is saved in the Station’s data.
If the key is rejected, the Station tells you why, for example that it doesn’t belong to the Build Station, has expired, or that the license server can’t check it right now.
Checking and removing
- Jetzt prüfen (check now) asks the license server immediately, for example after a renewal.
- Entfernen (remove) deletes the key from the keychain. After that, the one-project limit applies again for new projects.
- A new key in the Lizenzschlüssel field replaces the old one.
When it’s checked
The Station checks the license at launch and then once a day. Only your license key is sent to the license server.
If the server can’t be reached, for example on the road without a network, the last valid check stays valid for another 14 days. So a dead spot won’t lock you out.
When the license expires
If the license expires or becomes invalid, the following happens:
- Your projects stay. Nothing is deleted, and you can keep building and uploading all existing projects, even if there’s more than one.
- New projects are no longer possible as long as more than one project exists. The Station then shows “mehr als die Lizenz erlaubt; vorhandene bleiben, neue gehen erst wieder mit passender Lizenz” (more than the license allows; existing ones stay, new ones only work again with a matching license).
- Remote access closes immediately. Signed-in browsers lose the connection.
With a renewed or new key, click Aktivieren or Jetzt prüfen, and everything is unlocked again.
