The interface

The window follows one simple rule: On the right is everything that belongs to one project. On the left is everything that spans all projects. Once you’ve got that, you’ll find every feature right away.

The sidebar

At the top of the dark sidebar are the sections that apply to all projects. Each entry shows what’s currently going on in a second line, plus a counter where needed.

Entry	What you’ll find there
Übersicht (Overview)	Which version is in the store for which customer, plus credentials that expire soon. See Overview and work list.
Warteschlange (Queue)	Running and waiting builds, uploads and repairs across all projects. See Building and the queue.
Offen (Open)	Successful builds whose checklist hasn’t been ticked off yet.
Aufräumen (Clean up)	Free up disk space in projects, Xcode, Android and Flutter. See Freeing up space.
Einstellungen (Settings)	Toolchain, collection folder, maintenance, license, remote access and more. See Settings and security.

The counters stay visible no matter which project is open. While a build is running, a progress ring spins on the Warteschlange entry. When credentials are about to expire, the Übersicht shows a yellow counter.

Clicking one of these sections opens it across the full width and hides the project tabs. Zum Projekt (back to project) in the header takes you back. Clicking a project in the list does the same.

The project list

Under PROJEKTE (Projects) you’ll find all the projects you’ve added. Each row shows the name, the number of presets and, if set, the linked Git branch with the ⑂ symbol. A dot on the left shows the state: if something is running for the project, a progress ring appears. If the project folder has disappeared, the entry turns grey and says Ordner fehlt (folder missing).

• Reorder: Drag a project to a different position with the mouse.
• Actions: Right-click or the … icon at the end of the row opens the menu with Bearbeiten … (Edit), Duplizieren (Duplicate), Als JSON exportieren … (Export as JSON), the commands around buildstation.json, Zugangsdaten prüfen … (Check credentials), Im Finder zeigen (Show in Finder), In Terminal öffnen (Open in Terminal) and Löschen … (Delete).
• Reload: The arrow icon next to PROJEKTE re-reads the configuration, for example after you’ve edited config.json by hand.
• New project: + Projekt (+ Project) at the bottom of the list, or drag a folder from the Finder onto the sidebar. The icon next to it imports a project from a JSON file.

Deleting only removes a project from the configuration. The folder on disk, the entries in the history and the artifacts in the collection folder stay where they are.

Without a license, once a project exists, the + Projekt button is replaced by Lizenz für weitere Projekte (license for more projects). More on this under License.

The project tabs

To the right of the list are the three tabs of the selected project.

Build

This is where you start builds: pick a preset, check the version, Build starten (start build). Above the form are notes about the project, such as the result of flutter analyze, an Android API level that’s too low or an available Flutter hotfix. At the top right are the buttons Aufräumen (Clean up), Versionen (Versions), pub upgrade and Projekt bearbeiten (Edit project). While a build is running, the live log appears below.

Verlauf

All runs of the project, newest first. Nur … (only …) filters to the current project, Alle Status (all statuses) to successful, failed or cancelled runs. Clicking a run expands it: the executed command, artifacts, the Hochladen (Upload) section, checklist, notes, Log in Console (log in Console), Log kopieren (copy log) and Erneut bauen (⌘R) (build again).

An orange dot on a row means: this build’s checklist is still open.

The status bar

The bottom edge of the window always shows what’s happening right now:

• Bereit (Ready) when nothing is running, with a summary of the last run with status and duration on the right.
• During a build: project, preset, version and the elapsed time.
• The number of waiting jobs.
• Abbrechen (⌘.) (Cancel) cancels all running builds.

Keyboard shortcuts

⌘ R switches to the project of the last build and carries its values over into the Build tab.

When quitting

A running build is a child process of the app. If you close the window while something is still running, the Station asks: Beenden (Quit) cancels the running builds, otherwise the window stays open.

Notice banners

Banners appear at the very top of the window when something is wrong with the stored data. If config.json contains an error, the banner names the spot and leaves the file untouched until you’ve fixed it and clicked Neu laden (Reload). If the build history was damaged, the banner tells you where the backup copy is.
